Fritton Lake Triathlon Festival Weekend
In the build up to the weekend of 16/17 June 2012, the weather was not looking good for great sporting conditions. Even with gale force gusty winds, the sun was out and not a cloud in the sky. Over 500 athletes took to the water/road/trail for the varied Triathlon distances.
Saturday started off with the Sprint Triathlon (750m Swim/ 20km Bike / 5km Run) with the fastest times of just over an hour and the last coming in at 2hrs.
Saturday afternoon saw the Super Sprint Tri (400m Swim/ 14km Bike/ 3.2km Run)
Sunday was the time for the Olympic Tri (1.5km Swim/ 40km Bike / 10km Run)
Throughout the weekend, Paradise Tri had several athletes competing in different distances and different age groups. We are very proud to say that there were 2 new comers to taking part in their first Triathlon, both of which used this as a training event for their Ironman UK challenge in 5 weeks time. 2 other Paradise Tri athletes took considerable time off their previous years performance, one taking 18mins off. To sum things up Coach Simon managed to bag the overall win for the Super Sprint Tri by over 1min.
All in all, a very successful weekend for the Paradise Tri coach and athletes, achieving goals and targets deserved by the amount of training involved.
Thanks to Simon Brierley of Paradise Triathlon Training for the contribution
