Volcano Triathlon 2013 - Bike

Volcano Triathlon 2013 – Bike

28th Edition of the Volcano Triathlon held at Club La Santa in Lanzarote, Canary Islands.

Yet another great day and well organised event with top triathletes taking part from all over Europe with names like Bert Jammer, Stephen Bayliss, Rasmus Petaeus, Belle Bayliss, Michelle Vesterby why wouldn’t you want to take part, so remember to add this to your calendar for next year.

For the people that don’t know, this event the Volcano is an Olympic distance triathlon consisting of 1.5k swim, 40k Bike, 10k run, which I participated in with 350 other triathletes. This year it was great to take part part instead of being a spectator.

The day started off cool and a little overcast with a temperature of 16 °C and later on warmed up for the run but not too hot though. The swim is in the lagoon and consists of one loop in calm salt water. The bike course takes you from Club La Santa through Soo down to Famara and then up towards Teguise out and back, making the bike ride quite a challenge. As for the run, this is three loops around Club la Santa with the finish on the track in the stadium.

I would like to give a big shout to my training buddy Annalise Ceri Moss who did fantastic on her second Olympic triathlon, she came 12th overall female and also Kenneth Gasque for greeting everybody at the finish line to congratulate them on their race.
